Methodology & Framework
Executive Summary: This report presents a comprehensive, multi-source analysis of preventable deaths and public safety incidents across Bangladesh during the first four months of 2026 (January–April 2026). Drawing on data from government agencies (DGHS, DDM), international health bodies (WHO, UNICEF), human rights organisations (ASK, HRSS, MSF), road safety monitors (RSF, Jatri Kalyan Samity), and systematic media monitoring of major national dailies, Insights Bangladesh has compiled, cross-verified, and analysed the primary causes of mortality affecting Bangladesh's population during this critical period. The findings reveal that Bangladesh experienced a minimum of 7,760 documented deaths from preventable or institutional causes during January–April 2026. This figure, derived from the updated Bengali-language consolidated source data and cross-referenced with agency reports, is higher than preliminary estimates and represents a critical accountability benchmark for government, development partners, and civil society.
